Can't the case get dismissed since the police didn't read me my rights?
NO! The police do not have to provide you with your Miranda rights unless they ask you questions. IF they question you without reading you your rights, then MAYBE your answers may be suppressed during a trial.
Aren't the police suppose to allow me to make "a phone call" if I'm arrested?
NO! Unfortunately many people believe the myth that the police must allow an arrestee to make a phone call. This is NOT correct. The police must allow an arrestee to speak with his/her attorney and stop questioning if the arrestee asks for an attorney.
